This initiative carries over the provisions of the legislation repealed by the new General Vehicle Safety Regulation 2019/2144, while taking into account the technical progress. It also provides technical specifications for the approval of certain newly mandated vehicle systems, such as the blind spot information system, pedestrian and cyclist collision warning, emergency lane-keeping and advanced emergency braking detecting moving vehicles and pedestrians in front of the motor vehicle.
