The regulation aims to improve safety, facilitate trade, and support technological advancements by introducing requirements for trailers with king pin couplings and requirements for brake connectors of tractors that automatically detect whether they are connected to single or dual brake line of trailers. It establishes safety requirements for all electric and hybrid tractors and incorporates three newly adopted UNECE regulations to simplify approvals and reduce burden on economic operators
