In June 2017, following an environmental monitoring and reporting fitness check, the Commission adopted an action plan to streamline reporting (in COM(2017)312). Action 1 of this plan relates to the possible streamlining of reporting that can be achieved through legislative changes. In order to implement this action, an alignment proposal is prepared to amend several pieces of environmental legislation.
