The revised ETS Directive (Directive 2003/87/EC) introduces a new emission trading system for emissions from fuels combusted in buildings, road transport and other sectors. It also allows Member States to extend the scope of this new system to additional sectors on their territory, subject to approval by the Commission. These delegated Commission decisions assess the requests for extension introduced by certain Member States and authorize the issue of additional allowances.
