As announced in the European strategy for universities, high quality staff are essential for thriving European higher education institutions and deeper transnational cooperation. Yet, they face uneven recognition of their diverse roles such as teaching, research and transnational education activities, precarious conditions, gender bias, and insufficient European mobility. The recommendation will encourage Member States to create conditions for more attractive, diverse, and sustainable careers in higher education.
