Environmental Groups Push for Stricter Chemical Safety Testing Requirements

The organizations support proposed clarifications but request additional changes: include cytogenicity studies earlier in testing, remove waivers for reproductive and aquatic toxicity tests, and ensure all necessary studies can be conducted until safety concerns are resolved.
This would ensure registration dossiers contain comprehensive hazard information for identifying dangerous chemicals.
Chemical manufacturers face higher testing costs and fewer exemptions from safety studies.

Chemical Industry Seeks Flexibility in Genotoxicity Testing Requirements

Eurometaux Urges Protection of Trade Secrets in REACH Update
