In the context of the reform of the Union’s legislation on industrial design protection the basic Regulation on Community designs (Regulation (EC) No 6/2002) needs to be amended with a view to aligning its terminology to the Lisbon Treaty and making the Community design registration system more accessible and efficient. This initiative therefore provides for certain consequential adjustments of its current implementing regulation (Regulation (EC) No 2245/2002) for the sake of coherence.
