In 2012, the EU adopted an ecodesign measure on household tumble driers that sets minimum energy efficiency requirements, taking effect in 2013. In addition, the EU adopted an energy labelling measure in order to provide information to consumers on the energy performance and other environmental parameters. Both measures led to a significant market transformation, providing substantial energy savings for end-users. The EU is now reviewing this measure in light of technological progress
