The EU Eco-management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is a voluntary environmental management tool developed by the European Commission. Organisations wishing to register with EMAS, having implemented other environmental management systems, can request recognition of these, or part thereof, by the Commission. Austria submitted a request of recognition for the Ecoprofit scheme. The Commission has examined this request and wants to recognise parts of the Austrian scheme.
