As part of the 'Fit for 55' package, the EU ETS Directive has been revised to align it with the EU 2030 target to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by 55% (compared to 1990 levels) by 2030. The European Commission needs to update several regulatory acts for the implementation of the revised EU ETS. The AVR revision complements the MRR revision by addressing the verification aspect. The AVR ensures that verifiers are qualified and accredited which enhances reliability of the emission data.
