EU-Greenland fisheries agreement and protocol – way forward
Maritime affairs and fisheries
This initiative will request the Council authorisation for the Commission to negotiate a new protocol with Greenland to implement the Fisheries Partnership Agreement, as the current one will expire in April 2025. If agreed, EU vessels will be able to access local fishing grounds, in return for financial and technical help under conditions set in the protocol. EU fishing in these waters would need to be sustainable, complying with scientific advice on the health of the related tropical tuna stocks.
