The purpose of the evaluation is to assess the performance of Regulation 515/97. The evaluation aims at assessing: the key elements in the Regulation (such as: mutual assistance between Member States and cooperation with the Commission; relations with third countries; databases) and the extent to which the objectives have been met and remain relevant; the data protection regime in the light of the new rules; and the operation in the context of an evolving customs antifraud landscape, etc.
