On 4 December 2020, the Council and the European Parliament reached an agreement on the proposal for a European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund 2021-2027. It empowers the Commission to define the cases of non-compliance that may lead to an interruption of the payment deadline as well as the cases of serious non-compliance that may lead to a suspension of interim payments, when the non-compliance or serious non-compliance is liable to affect the expenditure in the payment application.
