The Commission should adopt technical rules on geographical indications in the food sector. Purpose is to complete the rules on amendments of product specifications, needed for a proper functioning of the system.

The EC should protect the small businesses and protect the names and brands of local products. Protection of geographical indications should be mandatory for all products imported from non-EU countries.
