The COVID-19 pandemic shows that global challenges require multilateral action. At the same time, multilateralism is being contested geopolitically and a more robust EU approach is needed. Post-pandemic, implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on climate change, while promoting human rights and digital transformation, will matter even more. This Communication will reinforce the EU’s contribution to strengthening multilateralism, with the UN at its core.
