Response to Alternative Investment Fund Managers – review of EU rules

Active Owners Denmarks feedback to European Commission proposal for targeted amendments to the Directives on Alternative Investment Fund Managers (AIFM) and Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS). Active Owners Denmark welcomes the opportunity to share our views on the European Commission’s proposal to revise the AIFMD to improve its effectiveness and legal functioning, in line with its primary objectives of investor protection, financial stability and market integrity. We agree with the Commission’s assessment that the AIFMD framework has had a positive impact in creating an internal market for AIFs and support its approach for targeted improvements in the AIFMD, and where appropriate UCITSD. Whilst the proposed amendments reflect the vital role that asset managers, as private equity, and venture capital funds, play in the European economy, we believe that certain aspects could be further clarified to ensure legal certainty and a level playing field to allow for efficient and competitive fund management in the EU.
