AIRC

Förderung der Interessen der Fahrzeugbauer und Fahrzeugreparateure weltweit Der Name AIRC steht für Association Internationale des Réparateurs en Carrosserie. Gründungstermin war im Jahr 1970. AIRC ist die globale Vereinigung der führenden nationalen Organisationen auf dem Gebiet des herstellenden und reparierenden Karosserie- und Fahrzeugbaus. Die AIRC-Mitgliedsorganisationen zusammen repräsentieren mehr als 50.000 Fahrzeugreparaturbetriebe und Aufbauhersteller in vielen Ländern. Hauptziele: Bündelung der Kräfte zur Sicherstellung der Zukunft der Karosserie- und Fahrzeugbau-Betriebe Internationale Förderung und Unterstützung der Fahrzeugreparaturbetriebe und Aufbauhersteller Internationale wirtschaftliche und politische Lobbyarbeit Förderung des internationalen Austausches von Wissen und Kenntnissen Zusammenarbeit der Mitgliedsorganisationen untereinander

Response to Standardised access to vehicle information for on-board diagnostics, repair and maintenance and security features

As representative of the AIRC organization (Association Internationale des Réparateurs en Carrosserie) and member of AFCAR (Alliance for the Freedom of Car Repair in Europe) we underline the combined feedback we add as an attachment. The AIRC welcomes the European Commission's plan to anchor standardized access to theft and safety-related RMI and OBD information in the Type Approval Regulation 2018/858. General remarks: To give organizations a fair opportunity to achieve ISO 17020 accreditation, an extension of the implementation period from two to three years is needed. This is the only way to ensure that a CAB can undergo the accreditation process in a reasonable time. In view of upcoming cybersecurity measures relating to certificate-based access to the OBD-port, it would be appropriate to extend the scope of the Annex X so that access to the OBD interface can also be ensured with the certificates described in the Annex X and in the Type Approval Regulation 2018/858. This would also ensure a standardized approach for all market participants. Kind Regards
