Response to Technical updates of the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) State aid guidelines

Bundesverband Keramische Fliesen (BKF) calls on the European Commission to include the ceramic sectors in Annex 1 of the ETS State Aid Guidelines, as sectors which are eligible for protection from carbon leakage for direct carbon costs under Article 10b of the ETS Directive should also be eligible for compensation for indirect costs, without the need to meet any additional criteria. This would extend the eligibility for the indirect costs compensation to ceramic sectors as an energy intensive industries, which are exposed to the risk of carbon leakage. Specifically the ceramic tiles sector is eligible for the inclusion on the Annex 1 of the ETS State Aid Guidelines. This sector is considered at the highest exposure to the indirect carbon leakage according to the indicators. We refer also to the attached document.
