CARA, the European Car Remarketing Association represents the key players in Professional Remarketing of used vehicles in Europe. This comprises the European international remarketing units from Leasing Companies, Rent-a-Car Companies, Car Auction companies, international wholesale Car Traders, Vehicle Inspection Companies, Data Provider Companies etc. The Market for Used vehicles in Europe is about 2-3 times the size of the new vehicle market, hence of ciritical importance for the consideration of in-car data access. CARA Europe is listed in the EU Transparency Register. CARA and its members have established a Work Group of In-Car Data in 2019. The workgroup has created the following feedback to the imminent legislation and would like to contribute to the discussion with concrete examples of the relavnce of car data in the process of ownership change of used vehicles. We are happy to join any potential further dicussions and survey to further explain our view and its relevance.
