Carbon Capture Company Nordic

CCC Nordic

Paris Agreement - Article 5 To secure the carbon sink by saving forests and increase the carbon sink by substantially increasing afforestation and halting biodiversity loss. To ensure increased climate benefit through improved carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) binding, the Carbon Capture Company AB (CCC Nordic) strives for active sustainable forestry. This method also called “the Swedish Forestry Model”, is a proven way to create climate benefits. CCC Nordic works to increase carbon sequestration and high forest growth. These methods of forestation foster and support an emerging bio-economy. Additionally, they aid in the development of a fossil-fuel-free society while simultaneously increasing biodiversity. CCC works actively with the BECCS modeling. CCC Nordic issues carbon credits, certificates, and one certificate correspond to one tonne of sequestrated carbon. At the moment we trade those certificates that we call C1 at 10 EUR.

Response to Commission Delegated Regulation amending Annex IV to the LULUCF Regulation

From a political point of view, we must pursue an overarching issue linked to active forestry. It is central that Swedish forest owners themselves choose how to manage their forest and not be limited in being forced to make additional provisions for forest conservation. Such further requirements for forest conservation mean that it claims the current timber production land, and it is directly harmful from two perspectives; first, it lowers the growth in the forest, i.e., the acceleration of the carbon sink decreases, which means lower carbon capture. Second, it reduces the chances of building a more extensive timber stock to enable phasing out fossil fuels. Without sustainable forest management, active felling, and thinning, there is no possibility to phase out fossil use; the substitution effect is severely limited. Therefore, it is essential that we, from the policy, ensure that the forest owner can conduct active sustainable forestry without additional forest management provisions. That is a prerequisite for achieving the Swedish climate goal of 2045, where active sustainable forestry plays a key role. For me, as vice chairman of the municipal council of the Håbo municipality, we must strive to reach the Paris Agreement and the European Green Deal.
