Centro Nacional de Experimentación de Tecnologías de Hidrógeno y Pilas de Combustible

CNH2

The Spanish National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Testing Centre (CNH2) is a public organization aimed at driving forward the scientific and technological research in hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, covering the whole value chain: - Hydrogen production - Hydrogen storage and distribution - Hydrogen uses - Hydrogen systems integration - Safety and regulations - Technological innovation and implementation Their objective is to join efforts with research centres and companies in order to develop and validate new developments so they can be brought to the market.

Response to European Partnership for Clean Hydrogen

27 Aug 2019

We are in line with an institutionalised European Partnership based on Article 187 TFEU (option 2) based on the previous two Fuel Cells & Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) that have significantly contributed to develop hydrogen and fuel cell technologies within the EU and strengthen an European value chain. The EU must increase its investments toward a competitive clean hydrogen sector to keep a global leading position in this field. Other stakeholders have been already pointed out that there are some parts of the value chain mature such as electrolysers, fuel cells, HRS, and FCEV and need further scaling up to reach the cost reduction targets. Additionally, some other parts of the value chain need to be developed deeply like hydrogen storage, SOFC & SOEC and energy carriers in order to reach the same TRL than the previous ones with the same cost reduction restrictions. It is needed an open and integrated technological approach where all the feasible solutions are considered in order to find the most optimised and cost-efficient solution to the market challenges. Hydrogen must play a relevant role to be integrated with other green solutions by providing a completed decarbonised and competitive economy.
