Response to Revision of the Union legislation on blood, tissues and cells

The Cord Blood Association (CBA) is an international, non-profit organization that promotes both public & family cord blood banking, with the objective to accelerate the use of cord blood and perinatal tissues to benefit patients and advance medicine. The CBA appreciates the initiative of the European Institutions to harmonize the regulation of substances of human origin (SoHO). The CBA welcomes the draft proposal of the Regulation on standards of quality and safety for substances of human origin intended for human application COM/2022/338 which will repeal Directives 2002/98/EC and 2004/23/EC. The European Section of the Cord Blood Association appreciated the opportunity to provide input during the public consultation period of this legislative proposal and offers its expertise in the further debate within the European Institutions. Concretely, the CBA comments on the draft proposal as in the attachment.
