Response to European Data Union Strategy

18 Jul 2025

CrowdStrike welcomes the European Commissions initiative to develop a Data Union Strategy and commends its focus on enabling secure, effective, and innovation-driven data use across Europe. As a global cybersecurity leader, CrowdStrike brings a practitioners perspective on how cross-border data access is essential to protect digital infrastructure against ever-evolving cyber threats. Our submission underscores the risks data localization poses to cybersecurity resilience, including reduced threat visibility, slower incident response, and barriers to adopting state of the art security measures as required under the GDPR. We advocate for a strategy that recognizes cybersecurity as a legitimate and necessary basis for personal data processing and transfer, and which integrates safeguards without undermining the EUs own cyber defense capabilities. A truly competitive and secure Data Union must support both privacy and protection in the digital age.

Response to The EU Cybersecurity Act

20 Jun 2025

CrowdStrike welcomes the opportunity to respond to the European Commissions Call for Evidence on the revision of the EU Cybersecurity Act (CSA). As a global, AI-native cybersecurity provider, we bring insights informed by frontline experience defending organizations from sophisticated, rapidly evolving cyber threats. Our response draws on our deep expertise across incident response, threat intelligence, managed security services, and the delivery of a next-generation, cloud-native security platform. We support the Commissions vision to strengthen the EUs cybersecurity posture by clarifying ENISAs mandate, modernizing the European Cybersecurity Certification Framework (ECCF), and promoting a secure and resilient digital ecosystem. In this submission, we outline pragmatic recommendations to ensure the CSA revision fosters risk-based, outcome-oriented certification, aligns with real-world threat models, and supports innovation. We stress the importance of avoiding one-size-fits-all mandates, particularly for managed security services, and advocate for flexible certification pathways that keep pace with technological change. A harmonized, future-focused CSA can reinforce Europes digital resilience while enabling global collaboration and advancing secure-by-design principles across the cybersecurity supply chain.
