Response to Recognition of parenthood

On behalf of Human Dignity Center, our Hungary-based non-governmental organization I would like to contribute to this important topic. In 2015 through the Mum, Dad & Kids European Citizens' Initiative hundreds and thousands of EU citizens expressed their opinion: marriage is a union of one man and one woman, and family is based on marriage and/or descent. Every single child comes from a mother and a father. Their relationship is the source of the new life. It is no secret that the best interest of the child is having both a mother and a father. No state should purposefully put innocent children in situations where the child has no father or mother. They need both. Therefore we ask the European Commission and all relevant decision makers to respect national competencies and keep the definition of the family as accepted in all the Member States of the European Union.
