Response to Revision of the CO2 emission standards for cars and vans

Energifabrikens feedback, Vehicle regulation 8 november The valuation of vehicles must be based on emissions throughout the life cycle (well-to-wheels) and not on emissions from the exhaust pipe (tailpipe regulation). This would also be the logical regulation considering that the climate target in RED III is a GHG reduction target. There is no scientific support for the current policy of valuing vehicles according to emissions from the exhaust pipe. EU set low targets and focus om electricity, we do not reach the Paris agreement. The targets must be based on science and in level with the Paris agreement. We shall use all science-based renewable technics. We do that trough policies that focus on emissions in a life-time perspective. The climate cares about the lifetime, noting else. In “Fit for 55” – FuelEU Maritime and RefuelEU Aviation – propose GHG intensity and well-to-wake calculations. We shall use the same calculation on road transports. That includes biogas, renewable diesel, ethanol, RME electricity and other renewable technics. If we do not use them, we will use fossils instead. Resent report shows that biofuel do more then 500 times for CO2 reduction then electrification, at this date. Biofuels is a huge possibility. We need biofuels and electrification. "zero-emission vehicle" is truly false. There is no zero emission. All production have emissions. We must calculate the true way, via lifetime analysis. EU shall stop using this false expression, zero-emission. Not using all renewable techniques means using fossils.
