Response to European Quality Assurance and Recognition System

6 Feb 2024

EADTU supports the idea of a multi-level approach to quality assurance in higher education. Multi-level implies that relevant stakeholders should be able to (self-)assess a course, a curriculum or an institution. A multi-stakeholder approach means that teaching staff, curriculum boards, and leaders should be able to (self)-assess activities for which they are responsible. Alongside formal quality assurance and accreditation procedures, they should have access to quality assurance benchmarks and questionnaires. All of these should be in compliance with the ESG. In this respect, EADTU has developed a multi-level instrument for benchmarking blended and online learning (e-xcellence), meeting the ENQA criteria for e-learning. It has also developed the European Maturity Model for Blended Higher Education, all with European support. Response to Joint European degree

6 Feb 2024

EADTU welcomes the concept of the joint European degree. It will enhance the quality of university programmes by academic collaboration, and it will provide students with more opportunities to live an international learning experience during their studies. However, it is important that the implementation is flexible, affordable and scalable. Therefore, students should have the opportunity to follow substantial parts of the programme in an online or blended mode, next to the mandatory physical mobility mode. This will also promote inclusion and equity. In the framework of a European project, EADTU has published some models and guidelines for designing digital academic collaboration and virtual mobility.
