Response to Taxonomy Delegated Acts – amendments to make reporting simpler and more cost-effective for companies

26 Mar 2025

As the representative of the European Council of Shopping Places (ECSP), I welcome the opportunity to contribute to the European Commissions consultation on the EU Taxonomy. Our members play a key role in shaping Europes built environment, and the taxonomy is a critical tool in steering capital flows towards more sustainable activities. We support the broader objectives of the EU Green Deal and the role the taxonomy can play in driving transparency, comparability, and ambition across sectors. However, we believe that for the taxonomy to be truly effective, it must also be practical, proportionate, and reflective of the real-world challenges faced by the retail real estate sector. In this context, we wish to share our observations and recommendations to help ensure that the taxonomy remains a constructive framework that supportsnot hindersthe transition to a more sustainable economy.
