Response to RoHS exemption (29) for lead bound in crystal glass as defined in Directive 69/493/EEC

European Domestic Glass supports the renewal of the exemption 29 relative to lead bound in crystal glass. Currently, and in spite of two decades of research and still ongoing research, there is no substitute to the use of lead oxides as intermediate for the synthesis of lead crystal glass. Lead crystal glass is a substance displaying unique properties which are impossible to obtain without the use of lead oxides.
