Response to Sustainable Products Initiative

16 Nov 2020

The European Union of Electrical Wholesalers (EUEW ) welcomes the opportunity to contribute its feedback to the consultation on the roadmap for the Sustainable Products Initiative (SPI). Electrification is the key measure to reduce CO2-emissions and build a more sustainable world. At the same time this requires production and instalment of electrical products that need to have a high degree of circularity as critical material resources are required to produce these products. As an intermediary linking the upstream and the downstream of the value chain, wholesalers constitute a knowledge hub in the ecosystem and enhance the implementation of innovation. Electrical wholesalers are looking forward to supporting in close cooperation with the industry and policy makers a Sustainable Product Initiative which stimulates the path to a sustainable electrification. Attached you find the detailed opinion of EUEW.

Response to Review of the Construction Products Regulation

19 Aug 2020

EUEW, the European Union of Electrical Wholesalers, welcomes the opportunity provided by the Commission to comment on the roadmap for the CPR review. Herewith, EUEW wishes to contribute the views of European electrical wholesalers to this public consultation. New innovative electrotechnical products and digitalisation will play an important role in achieving the objectives related to the decarbonisation of the European building stock and the constitution of a more sustainable internal market for construction products. EUEW considers for the CPR review that it is important to follow a solution providing a regulatory framework of clear rules supporting a differentiated approach depending on the nature and the specificities of the product categories. The framework should be open for innovation allowing the integration of upcoming new technological developments and the progressive integration of sustainability aspects. The creation of additional regulatory burdens for economic operators can be avoided by considering existing initiatives of the professions in the ecosystem. Attached you may find the detailed opinion of EUEW on the CPR review.
