Response to Revision of the EU’s energy security framework

13 Oct 2025

EuropeOn represents the electrical contracting sector, with over 2.7 million professionals and 420,000 companies in Europe. Our sector provides electrical installations and services for buildings and infrastructure, including the integration of renewable technologies. We welcome the Commissions intention to review the EUs energy security framework in light of the new or heightened threats the EU is confronted with. The EU must address the increasing weaponisation of energy by hostile actors. EuropeOn reaffirms its conviction that electrification is central to energy security, as it empowers European citizens, companies, and administrations to take back control of the energy they consume. Electrification can enable the decentralisation of the energy system and, thus, make it more resilient to disruptions. Electrical contractors are increasingly asked by their clients to make the installations of their living and working environments shock-proof. Our role in energy security takes many forms, such as: Rolling out clean, decentralised electrification; Advising customers on which solutions to implement; Building and maintaining grids and infrastructure; Enhancing flexibility of the electricity system by integrating smart clean tech; Designing cyber-safe and overall shock-proof installations; Recruiting and training electrotechnical professionals; Restoring electrical installations and infrastructure after a disruption (e.g. extreme weather events). In view of the above, please find attached our feedback.
