Response to Calculation and verification methodology of rates for recycling efficiency and recovery of materials of waste batteries

Flow Batteries Europe represents flow battery stakeholders with a united voice to develop a long-term strategy for the energy storage sector. After consulting with flow battery manufacturers, we would like to highlight that considering only the dry mass in the input fraction presents a significant challenge when discussing flow batteries. Instead, we propose considering the total mass of water-based fluids and acids, where applicable. However, it is important to mention that new battery chemistries need time to develop safe and efficient recycling methods. Therefore, the discussion on the recycling efficiency calculation methodology should be revisited in the future to reflect scientific advancements and market developments.
