Response to The EU Cybersecurity Act

Gen Digital, the global leader in consumer cyber safety and digital protection solutions, with renowned brands including Norton, Avast, LifeLock, Avira, and AVG, welcomes the European Commissions timely initiative to revise the EU Cybersecurity Act. We fully support the Commissions strategic objectives of enhancing Europe's cyber resilience, streamlining fragmented legislative frameworks, and promoting a secure digital environment. Drawing on our extensive global threat intelligence highlighted by blocking over 2.55 billion cyber threats in Q4 2024 alone, averaging 321 threats per second and our deep expertise in consumer cybersecurity, we firmly believe that coherent, risk-based, and proportionate approach to regulation is essential to effectively safeguard EU citizens and businesses, while preserving innovation and competitiveness. In this response, we comprehensively address the key areas outlined in the Commissions consultation, providing targeted recommendations to expand ENISAs mandate with a strong focus on consumer cybersecurity, simplify the EU legislative and certification frameworks, and enhance alignment with international cybersecurity standards. Gen Digital remains fully committed to collaborating with the Commission in shaping an updated Cybersecurity Act that robustly protects consumers, reduces regulatory complexity, and leverages industry capabilities to reinforce Europes overall cybersecurity posture.
