Response to Delegated act on primarily used components under the Net-Zero Industry Act

20 Feb 2025

Korea Business Association Europe (KBA Europe), representing over 400 Korean companies in Europe, and Korea International Trade Association (KITA), representing over 77,000 international manufacturing and trading firms in Korea. KBA Europe and KITA welcome the draft of the Annex with the List of final products and specific components considered to be primarily used for the production of net-zero technologies to the Regulation (EU) 2024/1735 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 June 2024 on establishing a framework of measures for strengthening Europes net zero technology manufacturing ecosystem and amending Regulation (EU) 2018/1724, also known as the Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA). The update marks a positive development as it more comprehensively covers the battery and energy storage technologies sub-categories, with more details on the final products and primarily used components. The List includes all types of activities that are conducted in some of our members battery manufacturing factories, but it should not be considered exhaustive as new technologies and technological improvements are bound to be developed. Taking this into consideration, we would expect the list to be regularly reviewed and updated to include the most recent technological advancements and R&D activities in the battery market. Any such updates should be accompanied by extended consultations with the battery industry. We would like to be informed about an official plan for regular reviews of the Act and the Annex and any potential updates thereof, as we consider participation in related consultations crucial for the development of the industry.
