Response to Connecting Europe through high-speed rail

8 May 2025

LTG Group strongly supports the High-Speed Rail (HSR) masterplan and clearly recognize its benefits. The Baltic region still doesnt have a European-gauge high-speed rail connection, so extension of HSR to the Baltic states is absolutely key for connecting region with the rest of Europe and supporting long-term economic growth. A modern high-speed Rail Baltica line will offer people in the Baltics a fast, safe, comfortable, and green way to travelsomething that has been the standard in Western Europe for years Rail Baltica wont just connect citiesit will also open up major opportunities along the route: new business districts, revitalized urban areas, more private investment, tech innovation, tourism growth, and much more. Importantly, Rail Baltica will also be a game-changer for local districts along the HSR line, making it easier for people to commute and access jobs, services, and airports. The system is being designed for seamless, multimodal, door-to-door journeys managed digitally. In addition to economic and transport benefits, Rail Baltica has real strategic value for regional and national security. Strengthening infrastructure and improving mobility within and across borders enhances the resilience of our transport systems and supports NATO mobility goalsmaking our region more secure and better connected in times of crisis. We already have a successful track record of using the existing new infrastructure in Palemonas to transport NATO forces and equipment from Western Europe to Lithuania, and we must continue to develop our infrastructure capabilities that are indispensable for all the Baltic States and for the whole of Europe. Given the importance of this project, stable and flexible funding must be a top priority in the EUs high-speed rail planning.
