Response to Guidance on REDII forest biomass sustainability criteria

We appreciate the efforts of the European Commission to develop sustainability standards to guide biomass sourcing and harvest practices. Although we agree that it is crucial to mitigate harm to biodiversity and ecosystem integrity, we emphasize that these standards of sustainability as a whole fail to adequately address the net climate impacts of bioenergy--a key component of their overall sustainability.
