Response to Implementing act on a common methodology for alternative fuels unit price comparison

NOVE is the Dutch association for independent fuel suppliers. We strongly believe that at the actual point of filling up the vehicle the driver should be as less distracted as possible for obvious reasons. It is clear that there are other options and places to make vehicle owners aware of the existence and cost of alternatives via a price comparison, for example in the shop or on the website of the fuel station. Also we think the EC has a role to play in this field, as they do now with the publication of fuel prices in Europe in the Weekly Oil Bulletin. Furthermore we want to add that the price of the used form of energy is only one part of the cost of transport. The total cost of ownership is not taking into account. Having said this we do think, under the given circumstances and restrictions, the preferred methodology is the best option, since this is also the preferred option by customers (point 3 in the draft regulation).
