Response to EU Life sciences strategy

17 Apr 2025

To meet the demands of 21st-century public health and innovation, the future European Union life science strategy should elevate a new paradigmone rooted not only in scientific excellence and economic growth but in collaborative governance, data-informed learning systems, co-created health initiatives, and a path towards wellbeing economy built on trust. In Denmark, the Danish Life Science Cluster (DLSC), serves as the facilitating and coordinating body of the Business Lighthouse Life Science (BLLS) that offers a promising prototype: a public-private partnership that embraces mission-driven cooperation, holistic outcome measurement, and trust as a systemic enabler. This memo proposes five strategic priorities to guide the upcoming EU Life Science Strategy, anchored in cross-sector practice, participatory governance, and societal impact. As the EU prepares its next Life Science Strategy, it has a rare opportunity to lead globally in reshaping innovation toward inclusive, sustainable, and trust-driven futures. The use of a national, joint approach by an Member State in creating the BLLS illustrates that this is not only necessaryit is achievable. Europes next great leap in life sciences will not come solely from new technologies, but from new ways of working together. Authors Danish Life Science Cluster Denmark Kirsten M.
