Response to Modernisation of the EU legislation for on-farm animal welfare for certain animals

PETA Germany (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) appreciates the opportunity to call on the European Union to challenge the moral contradiction at the heart of current policies: that animals are simultaneously recognized as sentient beings and treated as agricultural commodities. Non-human animals possess inherent moral worth and the basic right to live free from exploitation, harm, and instrumentalization by humansparticularly in the context of food production.
