Response to A European Strategy for AI in science – paving the way for a European AI research council
5 Jun 2025
Feedback from Quibim on the European AI Strategy in Science and the European AI Research Council Quibim is a leading company in medical imaging AI, committed to transforming imaging data into actionable predictions to improve patient outcomes. We have developed a cloud-based, tissue-agnostic platform that extracts key radiomics features from large imaging data registries, enabling clinicians and researchers to make more informed decisions. Our solutions, such as QP-Prostate®, QP-Brain®, and QP-Liver®, are CE-marked and UKCA-certified, demonstrating our commitment to regulatory compliance and patient safety. As active participants in EU-funded initiatives like EUCAIM, we are dedicated to advancing AI in healthcare. However, to enhance Europe's competitiveness in the global AI landscape, we propose the following recommendations: Improved Access to Clinical Data: Facilitate easier access to high-quality, de-identified clinical datasets for training and validating AI models, ensuring compliance with GDPR and patient privacy standards. Flexible and Secure Data Governance: Develop clear and adaptable regulatory frameworks that support secure data sharing across borders, promoting innovation while safeguarding patient rights. Support for AI Implementation in Healthcare: Provide guidance and resources to assist healthcare providers in adopting AI technologies, including training, infrastructure support, and integration strategies. Enhanced Funding Opportunities: Increase investment in AI research and development through EU programs, focusing on translational research that bridges the gap between innovation and clinical application. By addressing these areas, the EU can foster a robust ecosystem for AI in healthcare, ensuring that innovations like those developed by Quibim can thrive and contribute to improved patient care across Europe. We are committed to collaborating with European institutions to realize these goals and advance the integration of AI in medical imaging.
