Response to Circular Economy Act

RENAS AS welcomes the European Commissions Circular Economy initiative. We have provided our feedback in the enclosed document. The main points are summarised below: 1. Use the EPR tool to achieve environmental benefits and material-based recycling targets. 2. Expand the WEEE scope to include all electronic equipment, notably industrial cables and professional equipment. Large cables in particular is a high-potential, under-regulated stream with large recovery potential and clear environmental benefits. 3. Align EU frameworks the Circular Economy Act, CRMA, and ESPR to reinforce each other: EPR for end-of-life management, and ESPR for product design and durability. RENAS AS is a non-profit producer responsibility organisation (PRO) operating nationally in Norway on behalf of 2500 producers. We are a member of the WEEE Forum and manage producer obligations for electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), batteries and packaging.
