Response to Carcinogens 3rd wave of amendments

The Saft Group is a world leader in the design and manufacture of high technology batteries for industry, transportation, aerospace and defense. Saft highly specialized nickel-cadmium batteries are used to provide power back-up to over 70% of commercial airplanes flying on the planet, they are the product of choice for similar functions in high speed trains, underground metro systems, and provide emergency power to mission critical industrial assets such as nuclear power stations, oil and gaz exploration and refining operations. Saft is fully committed to ensuring the safest workplace to its workers, and we wish to express our disappointment with the Commission proposal for an Occupational Exposure Limit for cadmium, which ignores: - critical parts of the Recommendation of the Scientific Committee for Occupational Exposure Limits - important findings highlighted in the Impact Assessment - and the position of Industry as spelled out in the tripartite committee. We therefore fully support the recommendation of the International Cadmium Association, attached.
