SINCTA acknowledges the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the aviation sector and highlights that it affects all the European aviation stakeholders: Airspace Users (AU), Infrastructure Management (Airports, for example) and all the services related to the air transportation mode, namely the Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP). SINCTA advocates that European-Wide financial aid shall be considered to every European aviation stakeholders in a fair and transparent way.
Unfortunately, when analyzing the EC's Initiative on the COVID-19 response for the ATM sector, SINCTA observes that the main focus of the EC is solely the financial support of the AU. To aid the AU, EC’s proposal severely endangers the financial stability of the European ANSPs. Being Safety the focus of the ANSP’s activities, SINCTA is shocked with the fact that the EC keeps pushing on the ANSPs Cost-Efficiency performance, ignoring the obvious effects it will potentially trigger in the remaining KPIs. Those effects have been observed in the past but the EC keeps ignoring those lessons.
