Response to Review of the Broadband Cost Reduction Directive (Directive 2014/61/EU)

SIRO welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback on the Commission's Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on measures to reduce the cost of deploying gigabit electronic communications networks and repealing Directive 2014/61/EU (Gigabit Infrastructure Act). SIRO fully supports the direction of travel of this critical piece of legislation for the roll out of VHCNs. The proposed regulation will help to address the shortcomings caused by the failed implementation of the BCRD in Ireland and to speed up network deployment to achieve the EU 2030 connectivity targets.
