Response to Taxonomy Delegated Acts – amendments to make reporting simpler and more cost-effective for companies

20 Mar 2025

Dear Members of the European Commission, As an organization committed to promoting sustainable finance, we appreciate the opportunity to provide our feedback on the consultation regarding the simplification of the EU Taxonomy framework. Given our role in uniting key stakeholdersincluding investment managers, asset owners, financial institutions, academia, other non-profits, and labour unions, and covering a significant portion of the Spanish marketwe have engaged extensively with our members to assess the impact of the proposed changes. We recognize and welcome the Commission's efforts to streamline regulatory requirements and enhance the practical application of the taxonomy. A well-functioning taxonomy is essential to fostering a competitive, innovative, and resilient economy capable of achieving ambitious decarbonization objectives. However, we also acknowledge the concerns and uncertainties that the current proposals have raised among financial market participants, corporate entities, and supervisory authorities. In particular, our feedback highlights critical areas of concern regarding the implications of reducing the number of companies subject to sustainability reporting, the alignment of the proposed simplifications with existing financial regulations (SFDR, Basel III, and Solvency II), and the potential challenges posed by data availability and quality. We also emphasize the need for a balanced approach that ensures regulatory simplification does not compromise the transparency, reliability, and comparability of sustainability informationelements crucial for effective investment decision-making and the mitigation of greenwashing risks. We believe that an inclusive dialogue with market participants is essential to refining the taxonomy framework in a way that supports sustainable finance objectives while maintaining clarity, stability, and legal certainty for all stakeholders. We hope that our feedback contributes constructively to this ongoing discussion and remains at your disposal for further engagement. Please find our detailed response attached. Best regards, Andrea González Executive Director Spainsif
