Response to Net Zero Industry Act

26 Jun 2023

We do believe that the Net-Zero Industry Act is an important first step in stimulating the investments needed to transition the entire economy to net-zero industry. However, we consider that in many of its approaches the proposal is too modest to achieve the objective of accelerating the transformation towards a net-zero industry. In addition, we believe that the limitation of its scope may be an obstacle to achieving its objective of decarbonising Europe. All value chains of raw materials, processed materials, equipment, parts, components and intermediate products must be included. From PTECO2, we have taken advantage of this process to present a series of proposals for amendments to enrich the Commission's proposal. The amendments that we have presented in order to establish the appropriate conditions for Carbon Capture, Storage and Utilisation technologies (CCUS) to prosper in the European Union. The debate on this legal initiative is an excellent opportunity to decisively promote the development and implementation of CCUS technologies in all the EU states and, of course, in Spain.
