Response to Review of the requirements for packaging and feasibility of measures to prevent packaging waste

The Sterile Barrier Association (SBA), the European trade association for companies, who produce Sterile Barrier Systems (SBS) and associated equipment and accessories for the healthcare industry, strongly supports global efforts to minimise the negative environmental impact caused by packaging. In particular, we are supportive of the European Commissions goal to review and update Directive 94/62/EC on Packaging and Packaging Waste and transform it into regulation as currently proposed. The SBA prepared a more detailed response to the consultation regarding the Proposal for a Regulation on Packaging and Packaging Waste, which may be found attached.
