Response to European network of employment services EURES – evaluation 2016-2020

Dear Sir/Madam I am General Secretary of UEMS-ORL, an organization representing medical specialists (doctors specialised in) Ear Nose and Throat and Head and Neck surgery (otorhinolaryngology and head and neck surgery). UEMS-ORL represents 30,000 specialists all over Europe and we serve the European population in this area. We are affiliated to the UEMS in Brussels (Medical Specialists of European Union). We would like to harmonize our medical specialist training in Europe to enhance mobility of European specialists around the EU countries and advocate a minimum training programme of 5 years. The Legal notice LN 2005/36/EU needs to be updated to increase minimum training time in ORL from 3 to 5 years all over Europe. Most countries now have a training programme of 5 years or over and only a few countries, such as Italy, Spain, Estonia and Latvia have programmes of 3 or 4 years.
