Unione Italiana Vini welcomes the improvement of the wording of the current Regulation n.607/2009 regarding the possibility for member states to have more flexibility to adapt EU wine labelling presentations to third country markets’ requirements. Some additional clarification would be welcomed to ensure the possibility for sparkling wine producers to respond to third country markets, duty free and airline companies requests concerning the material, other than glass, for sparkling wine containers with a nominal volume content not exceeding 0,20 litre. From this stand, UIV supports a clarification, within the delegated act at stake, allowing sparkling wines to be packaged in containers with a nominal volume content not exceeding 0,20 litre and in other material than glass when : - exported outside the EU or, - sold for consumption on board aircraft, ships and trains and in duty-free shops.
