Response to Possible revision of the Code of Conduct for computerised reservation systems (CRS)

2 Sept 2020

Dear Ladies and Gentleman, the VIR representing the interests of the digital travel industry in Germany, strongly supports the principles of the CRS Code of Conduct, but agrees as the prior evaluation of the EU has proven, that the code of conduct as it is in place now, is not granting a fair competition and transparency for the consumer any-more. However this is in times of COVID-19 environment more than ever of utterly im-portance, in order to re-establish consumers trust and confidence in travel through a transparent market access as well as to allow small airlines and travel businesses the chance to compete on an level playing field with larger players again. Hence we welcome the assessment of a possible revision of the CRS Code of Conduct and advocate for an amendment considering the changed travel market landscape, as proposed in option 3. Further details are attached.
