Response to Assessment of the effects of the Recommendation on combating online piracy of sports and other live events

Viaplay Group AB is a key commercial broadcaster and streaming service and a leading provider of premium sports rights and live sports events in the Nordics. The widespread use of illegal IPTV services represents the most significant threat to the pay-TV industry. It undermines the commercial value of live sports rights, erodes incentives for legal content production and distribution, and ultimately jeopardizes the sustainability of the entire media ecosystem. Recent studies estimate that up to 1.5 million households in the Nordics are using illicit IPTV services. Viaplay Group AB fully supports and aligns with the submission presented by NCP. This submission reflects our firm position on the urgent need to combat illegal IPTV and protect the integrity of intellectual property rights across the region.
